Raster layers can often be extensive and cover the whole basemap. A change of the basemap by clicking the button wouldn't have that much effect. Therefore, it can be defined if the basemaps should be fading over. By setting the tick at the yellow markered checkbox the fading over gets activated. Please not, that it impacts only on raster layers.
